Dancing with Cinderella

The lyrics from Steven Curtis Chapman's song Dancing with Cinderella inspired me to make this tribute to Carolyn Jones. He wrote his song after his 5 year old daughter was killed by his son who accidentally hit his sister with their SUV after she ran in front of him in their driveway. The song goes through how he would practice dancing with her through major moments of her life. (a pretend ball, prom, and her wedding).
His lyrics "So I will dance with Cinderella while she is here in my arms... Cause all too soon the clock will strike midnight and she'll be gone." reminded me of, how on Carolyn's wedding day to Peter Bailey- Britton, she and John Astin danced their last dance together, and how in less than 10 months Carolyn would pass away due to her cancer.
At her funeral John Astin gave the eulogy and jokingly stated that "it was unlike her to draw people away from work to attend a memorial service." Carolyn Jones was truly John Astin's Cinderella.

Rise Up

So a few days ago I got a tumblr account and started rebloging a bunch of Carolyn Jones pictures and comments, and having a good time on the site. Then yesterday I got a message from an account I started following the day I got on and we started talking. I soon found out we have a lot in common. We both love Carolyn Jones (obviously), we both love photography, and we both have lived rough lives. Later on in the conversation I told her that I have a blog on blogger dedicated to Carolyn. She told me that another one of her friends sent her the link to my blog the night before, and that they both loved my blog. I would like to thank you both and everybody else who have visited my blog. Carolyn Jones means the world to me and I want her name to be remembered. So I want dedicate this blog post to everyone who is a fan Carolyn Jones and keeping her memory alive.

Song lyrics from Andra Day’s Rise Up. The bravery and strength that Carolyn had not only during her cancer but throughout her life. Having to go thorough life not knowing her true father, having severe asthma during her childhood, almost dying from pneumonia, battling depression, her mother dying of pancreatic cancer, four marriages and having to restart her career over again after her divorce from Herbert Greene. Everyday Carolyn rose up despite what may have happened to her the day before, and continued living her life.

Carolyn Jones is an absolute inspiration to me. She has taught me to deal with whatever life has to throw at you that I am strong enough to get though it, and to follow my dreams and not let anyone tell me who to be and what I can and can't do. Carolyn is everything to me and many others. She overcame so much in her life and I am so proud of her.
